Who we are

This website is operated by Prelude Learning & Consultancy Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 16918049). For the purposes of UK data protection law, Prelude Learning & Consultancy Ltd is the data controller for personal data submitted through this site. Contact: jason.smith@prelude-learning.com.

What we collect

We only collect personal data you choose to give us, through two forms on this site:

• The contact form — your name, email address, the nature of your enquiry and the message you write, and optionally your organisation and timescale.
• The free resource forms — your email address, optionally your organisation, the resource you asked for, and whether you ticked the separate, optional box asking for occasional updates (with the wording you agreed to). The download is available immediately; asking for updates is never a condition of it.
• The book toolkit form — first name, email address and the access code printed in the book (required), and optionally your organisation and role. We also record the date and time of your request and whether you ticked the separate box asking for updates. The access code is checked but not stored.

The book toolkit

Readers of Training Isn’t Always the Answer are entitled to the toolkit, so access never depends on agreeing to marketing. We use your toolkit details to give you access and to keep a record of who has requested it. We send occasional Prelude updates only if you tick the separate, optional box, and we record that choice, with the wording you agreed to, separately. You can withdraw it at any time by replying to any email or writing to us.

The website is hosted by Vercel, and toolkit files are stored in private storage that only the website’s own download service can read. Toolkit requests are recorded through Formspree, the same form provider used for our other forms. Both act as our data processors.

Cookies

This site does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. If you enter the book’s access code, we set one strictly necessary cookie that lets you download the toolkit files; it contains a random identifier and a signature, not your personal details, and expires after 12 months.

We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies on this site. No personal data is collected automatically beyond what you submit directly.

How we use it

We use the information you provide to respond to your enquiry, to send the specific resource you requested, and — only where you've asked for it — to send occasional, practical follow-up notes on capability and readiness. You can unsubscribe from those at any time. We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not use it for any purpose other than the one you gave it to us for.

Legal basis

We process enquiry, resource-request and toolkit-access data on the basis of legitimate interests (and, for toolkit access, to provide the resource promised to book purchasers) — responding to a business enquiry you've initiated — and, for any ongoing email updates, on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who we share it with

Form submissions are processed by Formspree (Formspree, Inc., a US-based form-handling provider) acting as our data processor, which delivers your submission to us by email. This involves a transfer of your data outside the UK; Formspree's own privacy policy is available at formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy. Our website is hosted by Vercel (Vercel Inc., US-based), which processes technical request data such as IP addresses to deliver the site and also acts as our data processor. We do not share your data with any other third party, and we do not sell it. If the specific provider we use changes, this policy will be updated to reflect it.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and resource-request data only as long as necessary to respond to you and maintain a reasonable business record of the correspondence — in practice, no longer than 24 months from your last contact with us, unless you ask us to delete it sooner or we're required to keep it longer by law.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data; to object to or restrict how we use it; and to receive a copy of it in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email jason.smith@prelude-learning.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Children

This site and its services are intended for business use by adults and are not directed at children.

We'll update this page if how we collect or use data changes, and update the date at the top accordingly.
