What’s included

  • All 18 tools from the book, as editable Word files
  • The Tools 01–18 Combined Workbook
  • Three additional templates for larger pieces of analysis: the One-Day TNA Template, the Five-Day Rapid TNA Workbook and the Full TNA Report Template

Use only what you need. You do not need every tool for every piece of work. Choose the smallest set that gives you enough evidence to make a defensible decision. If you are unsure where to start, begin with Tool 17: the 60-Minute TNA Template.

Purchasers of the book may use and adapt these templates for their own professional work, including internal and client engagements. The blank templates may not be resold, redistributed or published as a competing resource.

Four levels of analysis

Choose the level the requirement justifies.

These are alternative levels of depth, not stages to work through in order. A request does not need to progress through all four: use the smallest level that gives you enough evidence for a defensible decision.

  1. 60-Minute TNA

Triage the request and decide what kind of response it needs.

  2. One-Day TNA

A structured initial diagnosis for a moderately sized performance problem.

  3. Five-Day Rapid TNA

Evidence-based analysis for a significant requirement.

  4. Full TNA

Comprehensive analysis for complex, strategic, safety-critical or high-risk capability requirements.
